Why Exercising After 50 And Into Your Golden Years Is Important


Welcome to my website. I am Mark Sellman, the owner and lead trainer at Just Today Personal Training LLC. Today I want to focus on exercising after 50 and why we should do it. I know, it all seems like a mountain to climb and who has the time. At Just Today PT, we teach you that exercise can be a part of your life, time sensitive and fun as we age.


Regular exercise for those over 50 prevents many of the medical problems associated with aging including developing type 2 diabetes, developing insulin resistance, rebuild muscle mass, and also improve alzheimer's disease, arthritis, and osteoporosis.. It can facilitate weight loss which can help prevent and treat high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Muscle tone, stability, flexibility and some endorphins can make you feel positive, confident, and in control as we get older.


Strive for at least 150 minutes of moderate cardio activity a week with at least twice a week specifically working the muscles in your legs, hips, back, abs, chest, shoulders, and arms. Some great activities include walking, jogging, dancing, golfing, cycling, tennis, strength training, swimming, and yoga.
